The Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa on Kauai
The Hyatt Regency Resort, located on the beautiful "Garden Island" of Kauai is, along with other awesome hotels such as the marriot Resort in Nawiliwili and also the Priceville Sheraton Hotel, among the islands finest examples of gracious island vacationing. This wonderful resort lies on the on the sun-soaked south shore of the island, right near 'ShipWrecks Beach' which is about as beautiful as it gets. Nearby are more excellent beaches along with shopping, bars, restaraunts and the like. This is really some prime real estate, that is for sure. There is also a very nice walking path along it's shore, although unfortunately it is not particularly long overall. On the whole, there are some other attractions and resorts nearby, such as the Sheraton Poipu Hotel, which, while it is very nice, is not quite as nice as the Hyatt Regency, in my own humble opinion. I suppose it could be better for business since it does have some nice amenities for business travelers such as an internet room and so on. There are also some very nice condominiums and house in the area directly nearby the Hyatt. The next town over, Old Koloa Town, is I believe the oldest town on the island, a former sugar cane producing center. It is really fascinating to see the former post office and other buildings with dates etched on them from the nineteenth century. The old post office has pictures of what the town looked like way back in the sugar cane days of the 1890's. Koloa is only a few minutes away from the Hyatt by car and it features a very charming little shopping center which I think you will enjoy. By the way if you are in need of some great Kauai real estate then might I recommend Sleeping Giant Realty as they are perhaps the best real estate firm on the islands. It is a truly wonderful spot to just sit down and have a burger or simply walk around and do some window shopping as you view the historic old landmark.
But back to the Hyatt Regency: One of the things that I personally love about this place is that it is interspersed with waterways which, although they are artificial,
look natural and tropical. It seems more congruent with the true spirit of Hawaii than some of the more stuffy European-style hotels that you tend to see elsewhere.
